Adolf Loos argues against the use of decorative elements in modern architecture, claiming that decorative elements is a sign of cultural backwardness. In addition, he points out that "The evolution of culture marches with the elimination of ornament from useful objects." So, he advocates using simple, unadorned and functional design.
